Rooms differ
London homes vary in age, construction and later alteration. A description of brick, lath, plasterboard or a typical stair is a description of patterns, not a finding about a particular wall or flight. Measurements you take yourself govern your room. Figures mentioned as common conventions, such as a usual carcase depth, are not a specification for a product you own.
Leaflets, leases and competent people
The leaflet supplied with an item is the instruction for that item, including restraints, clearances and assembly order. Appliance clearances belong in the appliance papers. Questions about a lease, a freeholder’s consent, a party wall or a listed building are not answered here. This is not legal advice. Where a wall, a flue, a floor or a service needs a judgement, that judgement belongs with a person competent to make it, or with the building’s managing agent, not with a general article.
No outcome is promised
We do not promise a fit, a fixing or a finish, and we do not present a note as a finding about every wall. You are responsible for how you use the notes. To the extent the law allows, attorneyatworkweekly is not liable for loss arising from reliance on them. Nothing on this site excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded.
The name of the site
